RESEARCH

About this site

This website brings together a range of resources to support researchers conducting research with adults who have impaired capacity to consent and health and social care professionals who provide care for people with impaired capacity. It also contains tools such as the NIHR INCLUDE Impaired Capacity to Consent Framework and CONSULT training on how to design and conduct trials involving adults with impaired capacity to consent.

The resources are intended to cover all populations who may have impaired capacity, with a number of specifically tailored resources for particular populations.

The website has been developed as part of the CONSULT project.

Research Pathway

Research needs to be designed to be inclusive of under-served groups, such as adults with impaired capacity to consent, at all stages of the lifecycle of a study. This includes from the initial research idea through to dissemination and implementation of the findings.

Please download the pathway to see our resources to support the inclusion of adults with impaired capacity in research organised by stages of the research pathway, with hyperlinks to the relevant website pages.
